4 Ways to Plan Your Best-Ever Vacation in 2019

Spicing things up is necessary - ask anybody over 40. ;) No but seriously, it can be really fun to add a plot twist to any situation. For example, going to Walmart is fine. But going to Walmart wearing only toilet paper? Now THAT'S fun. That's probably the worst possible example I could have come up with but... I did and I already typed it and now you understand my point so let's just ... move on.

Social Media would have you believe that traveling is either frolicking in your bikini on a beach somewhere in the Bahamas or backpacking through Europe by yourself for months. But it can be soooo much more than that! Here are 4 ideas for spicing up your vacations in 2019:

1. Follow your favorite show

Show: Destination:

Shameless Chicago

One Tree Hill Wilmington

Keeping up with the Kardashians Los Angeles

You get the point. Go visit the real life locations where your favorite tv show or movie was filmed! You can find the information with a quick Google search and go from there. For my One Tree Hill fans - the River Court has since been demolished... so don't get your hopes too high.

2. Take a haunting inspired vacation

Whether you believe in ghosts or not, you have to admit the stories are always interesting. There are plenty of cities around the United States (and the world for that matter) that offer cemetery tours, haunted tours, ghost story tours, etc. Off the top of my head: Mansfield, Ohio, Savannah, Georgia and Providence, Rhode Island.

3. Bucket list vacation

What are some things you've always wanted to do? Hike a mountain? Skydive? Snorkel? Swim with sharks? Stay in a castle? Fly a plane? Meet someone famous? Create a list of everything that you've been dying to do - and finally do it! And don't forget to bring a loved one so you don't chicken out.

4. Hobby inspired vacation

If you love basketball, maybe you make a vacation out of going to see your favorite team play. If your passion is fashion (lol), maybe you try to go to New York during Fashion Week. So on and so forth. Incorporating your hobbies into your travel plans is a cool way to be sure you'll enjoy your vacation. However, these vacations might have to be taken alone or you might have to work a little harder to find someone to come with you.

Choosing your vacation like this makes the experience a little bit more personal. Since it means more to you, you'll probably end up enjoying it more. Give it a go and let me know what you choose!
