While spontaneity is exhilarating, planning is crucial for a successful long-term roadtrip. Now, I’m not saying you have to draw up an itinerary covering every moment you’re away from home, but you should at least have a general idea of what you want to see and do.
Planning is a hassle- trust me, I get it. You have to find the fastest route with the best stops. At the same time, you have to find a good balance between car time, sleep, and everything you want to see.
Sounds like a lot of work, right? It is. But lucky for us, we have www.roadtrippers.com. Their website has helpful articles about unique places to go and pre-made roadtrip plans. The coolest part about Roadtrippers, I think, is the ability to download their app and create an account where you can customize your roadtrip with their help. The graphics are breathtaking and the visuals help tremendously in planning.
Little icons will pop-up along your route alerting you of attractions that you might like. You can set the filters to alert you of specific types of places (nightlife, hiking trails, etc.).
From my experience, their website has been the easiest to use (and I’m terrible with technology!) and by far the most helpful. Not to mention, it’s free to use!
