The way you do your makeup on vacation depends on what you like, where you're heading, what you look like, what you prefer, etc. Some of you will be heading places where it makes sense to be glam 24/7 and some of you will be heading places where it might feel out-of-place to be in glam at all. At the end of the day, you choose what looks best/works best for you. But maybe you're exploring for some inspiration. And in that case, I'll share what I do when I go on vacation!
For some reason when I travel, I'm really prone to getting acne. I recently found a cleanser called Tatcha which has helped a lot, but changing my makeup routine while I'm on the go changed the whole game. Instead of using my regular full-coverage foundation, I use a BB cream or tinted moisturizer with SPF, which protects my skin from the sun while letting my skin breathe while still getting that full coverage.
I still do my eyebrows the same - I use ABH Brow Pomade. I use Better than sex! waterproof mascara by Too Faced. I dabble some blush and bronzer on my cheeks... and if I'm feeling really frisky, I'll put some pale gold glittery eyeshadow on. I'll line my lips and grab some gloss, and then boom! Done.
When I'm vacationing in a warm, humid place, I don't like to use a full-coverage foundation. For me, it makes my skin feel really oily and cakey and it feels like it's just melting off my face. It drives me insane. So using something much lighter that still has great coverage like a tinted moisturizer is great for that clear-face, even-tone look. I have friends who prefer to use powder, and I've used CoverFX powder instead of tinted moisturizer a few times.
Since I know I'll be sweating, I try to keep it as light as possible. I don't try to blend any eyeshadow or contour because I know it'll end up looking janky after I sweat, so I keep it basic.
I use waterproof mascara to make sure it stays in place. I choose not to use eyeliner because my eyes are already small, and when I'm in sunny places I tend to squint in photos more. Using only mascara makes my eyes look a little bit more open in photos.
I still do my eyebrows because I just feel odd without it. The blush and bronzer is optional and I typically only add them when we go out to dinner. Doing my lips is my favorite part and I like the Too Faced Lip Injection gloss - the clear kind.
